I don’t hug the same anymore—
and I have you to thank for that.
I wish I had held you that day—
really held you, but I didn’t
because when I said goodbye,
I really meant I’ll see you tomorrow.
So I didn’t hug you because I thought tomorrow was guaranteed,
for the both of us.
But now it’s been 31 tomorrows,
and you aren’t in any of them.
So yes—
I hug differently now.
Because tomorrow isn’t a for-sure thing.
